Frequently asked questions
Who can participate in the masterclasses?
The courses are open to professional performers who have completed their music studies or individuals pursuing professional private training (minimum age 21). For beginners or those still early in their journey, we offer Passive Observer program packages, which provide an excellent opportunity to learn by observing the sessions.
Is there a selection process, and how do I apply?
Yes, participants are selected based on their experience and skill level. To apply:
Fill out the online application form.
Pay a €75 application fee. If you are selected, this fee will be credited toward the total cost of the course.
Are the masterclasses open to observers (passive participants)?
Yes. We offer several different observer packages and provide the flexibility to "mix and match" the specific sessions you wish to attend.
How is the daily schedule organized?
The courses consist of intensive morning and afternoon sessions, including:
Private individual lessons.
Technical group work with a mentor.
Group sessions with both a mentor and a collaborative pianist.
Collaborative sessions with the mentor and the orchestra.
What repertoire should I choose?
We recommend selecting pieces from the 19th and 20th-century operatic repertoire that best showcase your vocal technique (for singers) or your ability to command orchestral colors (for conductors). It is also beneficial to bring pieces of which you already have professional recordings.
Will the sessions be video-recorded for analysis?
Official recordings of the sessions will not be made, except for the concerts and a few public sessions designated for faculty use. However, we encourage self-analysis: you are welcome to film your own work during lessons, but please ensure you have the consent of any colleagues who may appear in the frame.
What is the recommended dress code?
For daily rehearsals, we recommend comfortable, casual clothing that allows for freedom of movement. For final concerts, formal concert attire is required.
How should I prepare the scores for the repetiteur or mentor?
Please provide neat, legible copies of your scores. These can be either physical paper copies or digital (tablets), provided they are not overly marked with old notations and are easy for others to read.
